The Best Guy

Hi guys. I have a silly and noob question. I made my first custom portrait but he isn't aligned like the others on FEXP's Face folder. So whenever I try to load him in a dialogue, he doesn't show up. Can Someone send me some light?
I think he is smaller than the others. Made him on paint but I tried to fix it on Gimp

Hey there, welcome to the forums!

If you want to easily align the mug, download Cedar Nyx's Autoformatter, as well as the GBA mugs, and make sure your mug is in the same style as all the GBA mugs, After that, plop it into Cedar's formatter, and it will literally do everything for you. (You don't even have to change the position or eye/mouth frames, it finds those automatically!)

You can download the GBA mugs and also her formatter in this topic. http://www.klokreations.net/t597-cedar-nyx-s-auto-mug-formatter-for-fexp-fexna-fede

Hm, also there's a mug formatting frame somewhere, the one with the rainbow colors that shows you where to put all the frames and etc. Do you have that already? I had a part of it in my Ultimate Guide, though it was probably slightly bigger than normal. If you don't have it, I'll upload it for you.

Alright.

Here's the full template. You can also crop this bad boy down or add more emotions if needed, however I think that Cedar's tool may only recognize images that fit within this size. Even if it does, you can always find the coordinates yourself using the method I outlined in my Ultimate guide.

Here's a smaller one if you have less frames/don't need the slightly bigger size.

Still having problems D:

Here what I'm doing. This is my mug:

( There are some problems I know. I never used paint to do something so "complex" before so I don't know how to take that white square out. )

Let's see for example that, for practice means only, I want to make this Random Guy become the "Man1Villager". I used the Ultimate Tutorial to make a test text to make the original "Man1Villager" show up.

What I did: Made this mug on paint.

Then I used the Mug Formatter. Copied the code textbox to the Script Editor like it said.

Pasted my mug on "Faces" folder and replaced it with "Man1Villager".

When the game start, the text begins but no mug appears D:

Could you post the formatted image?

Also, don't worry about the quality of the sprite or the white square--the only problem with the white square is that it means you need to Import the image as a Material (put it somewhere easy to find, like Titles), THEN paste it into the Faces folder. But I doubt that's the larger issue here...

A few things come to mind.

1. You don't remove the rest of the FEXP format zones. They stay there, even if you're not using them. You can remove the rainbow colors and make them transparent, but actually removing the various boxy zones and cropping down to the image like you did is a no-no.
2. Your image is weirdly stretched?? It doesn't need to fill the box, it can be smaller than that.
3. See that tiny grey chunk at the bottom right? See how the mug's right shoulder is extending into it? Shift the mug to the left until it's away from the right side of the formatter. FEXP doesn't read that Grey zone or above it as anything at all, the mug will be cut off.

Really, you should be formatting your mug like Mr. Eliwood here.

See all of his face frames? See the "emotion" battle faces? You can actually remove one of the upper faces+frames, as well as the "battle" faces (This part), but by remove I only mean "make that section transparent". If you don't know how to make something transparent with GIMP, google a tutorial, it's pretty easy.
