Suggest anything, anything at all, that you would want to see in an engine. Anything. Don't hold back. If you think it's a feature that FEXP lacked, or something from FEXP you want improved, or just pretty much anything, suggest it damnit. Basically we're using C# now, the same as Yeti, but I want this to be a community driven project so if you have a suggestion this is the planning stage and now is the time to bring it up.

Edit: FEDE = Fire Emblem Developer's Engine.

Integration with a tutorial would be nice, so if you were looking at a script and wanted to understand the class actually does, you could highlight just the name of it and look it up in the Reference, which would pull out a database of information describing things in a concise manner?

Might be a better way to organize help and stuff. Unless you're going full GUI/non programmer friendly? In which case maybe each window could have a ? button that, when clicked, explains what each part of the window is for with little tabs over each part.

Cause when stuff like that is available you basically don't have to ask any dumb questions, it's literally right there

I can't think of anything else right now but I'm sure I shall :V

Since you've decided on C# does that mean you're using XNA as your IDE?

It'd be nice to integrate every mechanic from all the major Fire Emblem games in a way that allows the user to toggle them on/off at will. So one person could use the engine to make a game that's a lot like FE10, while someone else could make a game that's closer to FE7.

If that's too much, then the support system from FE9, skill removal/allocation and a shove mechanic, plz.

But I think we can make a setup battle "Fe6-7-8" And a "Fe9-10" ; just some changes. Smile

And new features like..Maybe have the possibility to replay the game after the end? Or a thing like this ^^

Toggle options with true/false statements is one of my highest priorities with the engine. Multiple FoW types, easy class vision settings, easy range setting for weapons (I don't like FEXP's range options in the slightest) and etc. I also plan to have multiple UI's that you can swap between, like choosing to disable str/mag split and flipping to a classic GBAFE UI, or using char's new UI with growths displayed, etc lots of options are possible.

These are good suggestions, keep them coming. I'm up for anything. And I have no clue if we're using XNA or not, but even if we do our engine will be largely different from Yeti's in implementation.

-The surrender thing that I created a subject before.

One option that directly turn a complete team to another (like..If the boss surrender to one allies, all of is subordinate will turn into "select team" Smile )

-And I have another idea: If one guys dies; he will automatically revive but into the team that killed him. Only if the options is enabled; I know that's a crazy idea but why not? ^^ Maybe enable like for one unit..Like monsters. And if enabled; we can specify how many times he can do that. (I've always crazy ideas I think..)

^You can do almost all of that in FEXP right now, but I'll keep that in mind.

I think there should be a toggle between GBAFE skills and FE9/10 skills. Maybe that's just me though...

Also...perhaps include a forge of some sort?

maybe a more visual, dedicated cinematic editor? so you could just drag characters in or something and change the text without having to find the correct script stuff for it

and perhaps a timeline/scene hierarchy...first in the hierarchy would be the start screen, then the chapter select, then a cinematic or a playable map.

I love this idea! Though TBH I'd also have a regular plaintext editor, just because I work faster w/those.

That's basically an event assembler.

Python is cool, my friend and I once wanted to attempt a project like this. Only he went and got himself a nice high paying job and has no time. The limitations in FEXP bother me like crazy.

-Having a user-friendly creation UI.

-Dual Enemy Attack range, ala FE13. Both the ability to see specific units in a certain colour (red), and everyone's at once in another (pink).

-Branched promotions.

-Bonus Experience

-Forging in both "upgrade an existing weapon" (DS/3DS forge) and "create an entirely new item (FE10)

-"Restock" from FE13. Having your weapons re-organize themselves into as many max Uses as possible when in storage.

-Flexible Weapon Rank bonuses. The thing about FEXP was that it was actually LESS flexible than a ROM, since you could choose the amount of the bonus AND what the bonus was given to for S rank. While FEXP only seems to do hit/crit. Additionally, the option to add bonuses to any Rank like in DS/3DS FE.

-Flexible skill system, hopefully including skills by level up, but make it flexible so you can choose the levels its earned at.

-For god sake do not limit yourself to GBA UI. Biggest complaint I have about FEXP. Monitors have a lot of space, there's no reason there can't be a side bar with the unit information when you scroll over them. Option for mouse controls would be nice too. (Though, I'd most likely connect a controller, personally.)

What about a music inserter? Sort of like a small app within the engine that lets you import MP3s/WAVs, and then set the start point or loop point, and choose where to insert it, etc?

That might be useful.

So exactly what RMXP does for music then? You don't need an "inserter", it's not a rom.

I thought you had to enter the code editor and set the loop points etc in terms of seconds. I had more of like a slider thing in mind.
