Yay! I LOVE YOU KLOK.

I actually thought of a way to replicate a deployment screen with just eventing:
Simply create a new battle map, as small as possible, make the objective to survive 99 turns, spawn every single unit the player can have at that point in the game, and add in a talk event between the Lord and every other unit. Make it so a different switch turns on for every unit you talk to, and have it so a variable increases by 1 everytime you talk to someone, and when it reaches 8 or 10 or whatever number of units you like, transfer the player to the actual map with units being spawned depending on whether their switches are on or off.

Bit of a hassle, but probably worth it, and it's serviceable in terms of presentation.

In other news, I think it's pretty likely I might end up making a full game with FEXP. My project's been going really well so far, and I have a ton of free time, so I'm making at least one full chapter a day. Might be posting some demo versions soon if that's cool with you guys?

On that note, I just downloaded both Generic War and Phoenix Saga. May I ask how you managed to change the icon of the .exe?

Also, do you know of any way to un-encrypt the game files so I can study your scripts/events, or would I have to figure that out myself?

There's a program you can use called DRGSS or something similar to that. If someone here could upload it from our dropbox *nudges literally anyone on site* then it'll be real easy to do.

I'll see if my net can handle uploading it, it's only like a 1MB file.

Yup, just had to check my email. This is gonna prove hella useful, thanks very much.
Is there any policy on taking faces, animations and scrips from these projects? I am DYING to use some of this stuff but I'll fight the urge if I'm not allowed.

Taking art isn't allowed. Taking scripts or codes or events or animations is fine, with permission from their authors. By "art" I specifically mean game-specific art, like mugs or uh, CG's from a game like Generic War.

I don't think weapon icons are horrible to take, just give credit, maybe ask about specific icons if you're unsure.

Uh, you can probably use my battle sprites, although I forget which ones are mine on there.

Alright, sounds good.
I don't suppose everything in Super FEXP free to use? Like the general sword sprites, or your Lord sprites?

Aeorys made that one, IIRC, and no, it is not free to use.

I don't know if using the Lord sprites is allowed, since Yeti made those. Hop on the shoutbox and I'll try to help out.

Aeorys made that for me and me alone to use. Just gonna throw it out there again, mugs are not allowed to be used 99% of the time. It's a bitch but you'll have to deal with it. There is however a huge list of FE6, 7, and 7 mugs that you can use as you wish, and thanks to yeti they were converted to FEXP format too. That should give you at least something useful.

Alright, fair enough. I'll stick with the default FEXP 1.0.1 assets until I manage to commission some custom work. Thanks for clearing that up.

And Klok, I already asked this once but i'm not sure if you missed it or just don't know anymore, so I'll ask again to be safe. Do you remember how you changed the icon for the .exe in Generic War and Phoenix Saga?

I've been getting away with just recoloring default Fire Emblem mugs with the intent of making fullbody mugs later on when I increase the display resolution and tile size, but there's one mug I can't create a good placeholder for with just a recolor. Essentially a draconic humanoid. That's why I flipped my **** when I saw the Aeorys sprite.

If you can make a draconic humanoid mug, which I know is probably a ridiculously hard thing to do, that would be AWESOME. But otherwise, don't worry, I've got the rest covered for now.

If you can get past the elitist attitude, and show some progress on what you're trying to do, you might be able to get somebody to do it on Serenes Forest.

Yeah, I recently joined up on Serenes Forest, will probably start posting there soon. (Klokreations has a much better atmosphere, just for the record).

Also, that's a sexy mug. I'll definitely use that when I think of a fitting character for it.

Just google ".exe icon changer" and you'll find something. I searched for quite a while and I don't remember the process I used to actually change the icon.

Actually, L95 already made a dragon-human mug. If anyone can do it, it's her. I personally find her style to be pretty unique and cool Smile

PM me with details (Color, design, etc.). Do you just want a dragon (that fits with regular mugs), then? Or some sort of guy with a dragon head? (The humanoid part is confusing me :p)
TBH, I can draw dragons better than people anyway.

Does anyone know how you would go about modifying Astra so that the number of extra hits it gives is a random amount between 2 and 5? And that this random number resets everytime Astra activates?

ASTRA_HITS = rand(5) + 2
Works fine, it's just that it will generate the number once and then stick with that number forever.

Is there a way to seed the random number generator? Because if you seed it with a new number every time you'll get different results.

I would suggest using the default RNG function (something like game_get_rng, I don't remember), then if it rolls a 25 or under, you get 2 attacks, otherwise roll it again, and 50 or under is 3 attacks, otherwise 75 or under is 4 attacks, otherwise you get 5 attacks.
