This is my topic for the FEXP Ultimate Tutorial. I will be updating this periodically, and I find it's quite easy to make. There are a lot of things that look a bit ugly, the Table of Contents will need to be modified and revamped, you know, small things like that. Anyway here it is for anyone who wants to read the introductory chapter.

Note that the first link is the newest version I've made, but if you're on a mac or do not have Microsoft Office on your computer, you may want to try the second link which is my significantly older tutorial.

If you notice any details I may have missed, please give me feedback as I want to make this comprehensive and complete.

Oh, and if you have something in particular you want to learn about, post here or PM me and I'll add it to my todo list. No guarantees though, but I'll get to everything I know at some point.

Starting from the ground up, the first thing people will probably want to do is slap some units units down. So, I would start with units and then show how to get their map/chapter to become selectable from the title screen.

That will at least get people started. Then move on to event things like conversations and spawning things.

That is a good idea. Conversations are usually the biggest problem for me.

Also, if you know how to link separate maps together, I would enjoy knowing about that.

I do in fact know how to link maps. I'll be sure to add that into the chapter creation chapter. And everything else will be added too, thanks for the suggestions so far.

Uhhmmm that's BLAZER's Ultimate Tutorial you linked there. If you're making an intro 4x that size...

Also, battle events like talking, visiting, chesting, and DOORS. I have no idea how to work doors, personally.

EDIT: And then maybe SCENE events like how movement is different, and, if you know, scene battles.

EDIT2: For chapters, how about:
Unit setup
Item setup
Game setup(like System Config)
Map setup
Map events
Scene events
Graphics setup
Music setup
Other helpful tips/tricks/tweaks

Or something like that. Maybe with less use of the word "setup".

XD I forgot about the blazer's tutorial being on my flash drive and got it mixed up. Anyway, I just completed chapter 1 today of my tutorial, I'ma take a break and get back to it in a bit, tell me your thoughts!

Oh hey look, chapter 2A is nearly done,. featuring a tutorial on adding a character ingame. It's incomplete and needs a little elaboration but it's a pretty good time to release IMO.

Stop telling people to use other resources if this is supposed to be an "ultimate" tutorial <_<
Just say that you'll include links to programs and such when you have access to the other resources.

Otherwise, looking pretty good so far!

The bit on the graphics (which, like I said, shouldn't even be mentioned until later) tells people to go look up how to make an image transparent, for instance.

Alright, so I skimmed through this a bit. I like how you started with how to open FEXP; that means you want to be noob friendly.
What I don't get is when you start talking about the toolbar options you only mention what's under 'Tools'. Everything else gets completely ignored. That's not noob friendly.

Second, if that section truly is an introduction, you probably shouldn't be having paragraphs and paragraphs on one option. I recommend having a quick list of everything and giving them all 1 to 2 sentences as a primer. If you go on and on right from the get go you won't have anything to talk about in the actual meat of the tutorial.

Finally, your FEXP > ROMs bias keeps popping up all over the place but you also keep talking about professionalism. This is a contradiction.

It's important to be in there, IMO. Elaboration on how to do that in later chapters.

Version 1.6 available now. Featuring a new chapter (Well, 6/10th of a new chapter) and lots of smaller revisions and a not-shitty background, it's significantly better than the old version.

Edit: Oh hi surprise prime post. I only have 3 minutes so I'll just try and fix that rather than explain lol. This is still just a rough draft, after all.

Only because I have 7 hours in trade everyday to waste on shit like this. And it technically counts toward WBL because I'm using Word and learning how to use it better and better. Otherwise I really might not have the time for it.

So it turns out that my camp counselor is in fact learning Ruby now. I don't know if that means anything to anyone, but...maybe we could get another programmer? I dunno, at least some kind of adviser.

The final face data whatever number is what emotion appears on the status screen. It doesn't matter for Eliwood; he never smiles.

I'll edit this post (or double post, whatever) if anything else comes to mind.

Also, a generic unit's base level influences their stats, too! Prepromote levels just add to this.

Also I don't think "Pre battle scene" has any bearing whatsoever on the fact that the event fires up before the battle. EV001 SKIP should have the same effect. Autorun is what makes it play at the beginning of a chapter.

Thanks char, I needed to know some of that for the second revision later on down the road. I also forgot what the 4 emotions were for the battle faces so I didn't include anything for them.

I never noticed this before, I'll playtest and double check this.
