Mercenary Lord

I like it.

I especially like that you have a sort of Mercenary thingy involved. Maybe you could there could be some kind of mercenary guild in a chapter, where you can hire one or two out of maybe 3-4 mercenaries to come with you. One would be the Thief, one a Merc (derp), one maybe a Nomad, and the last could be a Pirate or something. You know, classes that can be hired for money in real life or some such? I'll leave the details to you, I guess.

And if you need some help with good wording or text, you can ask me or Jesse, I think. But...I AM the grammar nazi around here so I'd probably be better... I'll leave that decision to you.

Also, I have a sweet animation idea for the Assassin critical, would you like to hear it?

How about I just rely on my impeccable grammar and scions hacking and primes maps and icons :|

And no, we're not doing that guild crap. I've said it once I'll say it again, this is Beginnings of Eternity, not "MERC LORD'S SUPER AWESUM ADD LOTSA KEWL FEETURES HACK". As it is, I'll be writing text like nobody's business, it's insane how much text I've written. For every key story point where generic dialogue doesn't fit, there'll be 7 alternate versions of text, one for each class. It adds an incredible amount of story depth to what is already the most open-ended hack out there. BUT, there are no generic characters, everyone has a reason for being in the game, everyone has their own personality.

As for the animation idea, Scion will be having his friend make some animations, I have no say in that now am I really interested. I have text, items, and class balancing on my plate already, and that's a lot to do.

However, some people might be interested in some notes I've made on the 7 starting classes. Feel free to take a look.

Alright, so I just played through up to the point where you said I should stop.

Some of the dialogue feels kinda forced in the first part with all the questions. Specifically, Gibbson feels forced. And he's also kind of a creeper at the end :|

I ended up getting Archer by answering No/Yes/Yes. But, those bases are terribad.

Yeah Scion and I have to fix all the stats, and I thought the dialogue felt forced too, which is why I wanted an outside opinion.

but the knife cutting part made you laff rite?

I'll rewrite the whole thing then.

If I could, I'd prefer to use the OOC yellow test, along with Yes/No option. Does the yellow text have that capability? And if you can, can you tell scion how to do that?

I'd want yellow text a lot more, so I don't have to force dialogue. Then the opening chapter will simply be a "pick your class and stfu" chapter.

Also I worked pretty hard on Davian's dialogue (The nomad trooper) so was his good?

PS I mean this OOC text. http://puu.sh/cCQY

Alternatively, how about cutscene text like what's used in the very very beginning of Lyn mode? Can you use yes/no options there? That's be 10x better!

The brown text box uses the TEX6 command.

Code:

TEX6 BubbleType [X,Y] TextID

Bubble type for the brown text box is 0x5

X,Y coordinates are the coordinates on the screen, usually [0,0].

CG text uses the TEX5 command.
Code:

TEX5 ID

If you use this you'll want the text in FEditor to have something like this:

The [SetName] part.

Oh cool, now I know one is called bubble type and the other is CG.

So do either/both support yes/no commands?

Brown box should, though I'm not sure about CG. Try it and see Smile

CG text does not support Yes/No options.
Hilariously, you also can't try merging CG text with Brown box to cheat and use the Yes/No for it instead. Lool.
