This hack of his is pretty amazing. Him and I discussed it for 3 hours today and I found out he not only has some awesome shit planned for it, but he can make it happen too because he's a pretty good eventer/hacker/spriter.

Right now, his weaknesses are dialogue, which I'll be writing the dialogue for his hack from now on (Trust me, dialogue is bad, but his story is pretty good) and while he's gonna be making his own maps, I was wondering if Prime dearest could maybe help him a little with some hacking parts, and maybe help him improve his mapping skills?

So here's the game mechanics of only the first two chapters, which are pretty amazing when you consider them.

1. You can choose the starting class of your lord, Troy. You get either a lance, sword, or axe wielding lord.
2. Him and I agreed that based on the class of your lord, you'll get another unit on the next chapter or two that has a class based on your lords class.
3. Based on how fast and well you perform on the first two chapters (Prologue and #1) you get an additional 2 units that vary based on your performance.
4. You always get a healer on chapter 2.

Based on my conclusions, there are some 45 possible unit configurations for the third chapter of the game, and hell, you get even more variation than just that. You get gaiden chapters (Imagine two versions of a 5x chapter, and based on your performance you can get either one chapter or the other, or even just skip them both) and essentially his game is a gameplay-oriented game.

On the other hand......... and this is the pretty cool part........ if he can get it figured out, we're going to insert the world map for FEPS, and set his game in the world of Tantria, set about 20 years before FESP Very Happy So the possibilities for cameos and shit are really endless, and his hack is going to be pretty fun to play when it comes out so this will generate interest in FEPS as well which is always a bonus to me.

The storyline is a WiP for right now, but it's a significant bit different from FEPS's storyline anyway. I'll update this thread when I get more details.

Cameo! Would that mean you could make 'older' versions of his characters to be in the game?

OR do like the Marcus thing (only with a better character) and put a young version of a character in this game, then an older version in FEPS. So like, 20 year old, to 40 year old.

Like, some of his characters show up in my game, some show up in his game.

His game would feature younger versions of my characters, mine would feature older versions of his characters.

In addition, his game would take place on the "enemy" side (Which allows for developing Tantria backstory subliminally) and allows me to set some of his characters as enemies later on Smile

The game crapped out on me after I got the emblem lance, then decided to walk instead of talk to Vincent.

Also, the fuckin intro is hard as shit for a lancer... I died... fucking rebecca... the game didn't end though. :V


The game also crashed when I moved here to talk to vincent. :I

Edit: okay, its not that hard, you just have to forest tile spam and waste all the healing stuff.

Lances wwas a bitch, Swords were meh, Axes was easy as hell.

Just imagine though: The first level might be harder than fuck for lances and easy for axes, but the second level could completely reverse the roles :O

In the official game, if you beat them in a certain number of turns or less you'll be able to unlock different teams for the later chapters lol.

So I sent a PM to Scion last night an he agreed it's a good idea. This idea will take place either at chapter 3, 4, or 5.


So I came up with an idea I think you of all people will thoroughly enjoy. It's a long way away and by the time we reached it you'd be 3-4x better at hacking so it would be well within your grasp.

At some point, depending on how your story works out, Vincent says something about not being cut out for leading a bunch of young men, for he is but an old man. He calls up Troy and that second unit guy we had discussed (I'll call him Bob since IDR the name you said lol) and he tells them that he is considering appointing Troy the leader of the troop, due to his excellent skills as a fighter and the respect he has won from the troops. (Hence chapter 5ish would be most likely)

The conversation goes like this, with Vince asking Troy the questions followed by a Yes/No prompt. There are four possible endings, each one having huge implications. I will list the implications in order, starting with 1 and ending at 4. (The numbers in red.)



"Good" ansers are [No/No] and [Yes/Yes]
"Bad" answers are [Yes/No] (Worst) and [No/Yes] (Still bad.)

1: Maximum allies route, you'll probably get as many as 4 allies over the next two chapters thanks to this route. You will not get extra equipment for Troy and his partner, but it is a great route for getting a stockpile of good units. To counter all these extra units, the enemy units will take more of a punishment, and there will be more of them too.

2: Worst possible route, great for players seeking a challenge. Vincent will give Troy a Members Card, his partner a Silver Card, and 5,000 gold. They will not gain a single ally for the next couple of chapters, but they will be able to access secret shops and outfit their current army with quite good weaponry. Very Happy Take note that this is in the form of "Killer" and/or Silver weaponry, not lord weapons and such.

3. Second worst option, but still not too bad. You'll get one ally in the next couple of chapters, but you'll get 2 very good lord weapons, including a Magic sword that one of the two lords can wield that attacks at range. (On the off chance neither can wield it, we can also make it so one of the units you should have at this point can wield it, or possibly the lone unit who joins you in the next couple of chapters.) In addition, you get 1,000 gold.

4. Not necessarily the best route to take, but a very good route. You'll get one ally on each of the next two chapters, 3,000 gold, and a strong magic tome/weapon that will greatly aid you in the coming battles. IN ADDITION, the game will beef up the difficulty a bit to make sure that you don't get too comfortable anjoying all your new toys and units ;D

It'd be even better if you designed it so that each route had different chapters, otherwise i probably wouldn't want to play the same game repeatedly, only for a few units and weapons...

Yes, you actually would. We're featuring "dynamic difficulty" for the first time in this hack. We're going to give every character a variable based on their levels, so if all your axe users are OP and overleveled, expecta lot of swordsman in the later chapters. If you lose a lot of characters, the game will get easier. If you lose no characters, kill every unit, and beat the chapters lightning fast, the game will suddenly get VERY tough Very Happy

I don't know how hard this would be, but...

Unit Recruitment:
This is where you can recruit some of the characters that are recruitable. About 15-20 or so would be recruited through storyline choices, houses, missions, and other normal FE recruitment methods. The rest would be hired by paying gold, items, or any of the other things I can think of. they might refuse to be recruited if you have a conflicting storyline, not high enough level, etc.
It would be a scrolling list with their name, a picture of them, their class and level, and, depending on whether space allows, their base stats.


Forge
This idea has been in the Fire Emblem games since FE 9. Its where you pick a weapon that you have, and you can modify the stats, like its mt, crit, hit, and weight. You can modify each up or down 20 places. So if I had a sword with 8 mt, I could make it 28 mt. The price to move a stat up 1 is 50 G, and it double every place after that. Works with any weapon except for named weapons, I.E. Ragnell.
So, basically, you'd select any weapon you possess from any unit, and the base price for editing would be 0. As you add modifications to an item/weapon, the price would increase (dont know by how much)

Maybe the ability to go an random free missions for the army or some such? I dunno, think it'd be pretty BAWS.

This is a romhack btw, so there won't be a forge. We will probably have 1 or 2 units recruitable via gold but that's about it.This sounds basically like your mercenary game lol

SO, updates on this hack! We've been at it for a solid three days and the reboot is coming out amazing. Currently there are 4 physical and 3 magical starting classes, one for each weapon and magic in their respective triangles! In addition, the starting choices have been revamped and don't freaking SUCK anymore.

To blow more minds than the Columbine shooter (Tasteless jokes are my expertise), I've also implemented an flexible story system into the game! No matter what class you start as, the text alone will change everytime you play, and there are many times where you're forced to make a choice (Always a Yes/No choice, since that's the only thing we currently have to work with, but that might change later) that will help or hinder you in one way or another.

I'm considering implementing a contract-based character, like a thief for example, where you have to pay him 1,000 gold per chapter to stay with you. He'll be better than other thieves, naturally, but his cost might offset any bonuses you get, as he'll happily leave you if you can't afford to pay him!

To top it off, there is a dual-promotion system for thieves, of a sort. Male thieves promote to Rogue, while female thieves promote to assassin. The original choice was going to be the other way around, but Scion had a male thief he wanted to be a rogue so I'll use different reasoning to explain why women are killers while men are sneaky.

Women are quicker than guys, better at the killing blow. They can use their art of seduction to get close to a target and eliminate them.

Men are sneakier, relying on their wits. They do better looking out for themselves, pilfering whatever suits their needs. There's also a certain charm in the phrase "Gentleman and a rogue, all at the same time!".

I like it.

I especially like that you have a sort of Mercenary thingy involved. Maybe you could there could be some kind of mercenary guild in a chapter, where you can hire one or two out of maybe 3-4 mercenaries to come with you. One would be the Thief, one a Merc (derp), one maybe a Nomad, and the last could be a Pirate or something. You know, classes that can be hired for money in real life or some such? I'll leave the details to you, I guess.

And if you need some help with good wording or text, you can ask me or Jesse, I think. But...I AM the grammar nazi around here so I'd probably be better... I'll leave that decision to you.

Also, I have a sweet animation idea for the Assassin critical, would you like to hear it?
