Joking aside, it's better but...



Yellow - Shading issues. Mostly a lack of shading though the upper right has a funky tile

Black - MAJOR height problems. Your walls are a single tile high while your stairs are 3 or 4.

Red - This may just be me or it could be the tiles, but did you shade that?

Blue - Throne rooms shouldn't just be carpet. It looks silly because there aren't any shaded carpets in existence currently and so your walls look flat. Put at least a one tile border around the carpet using some of the stone or something. Try to layer the carpeting too.

White - Those rooms better have story/chapter significance because they don't make a whole lot of sense right now. And they are empty.

And doors should have shading right in front of them as well but yours don't :|



I've got a map too, it's a rework of the prologue for Decay of the Fangs. I showed it to Mariobro and he liked it.



Check out DotF here. He doesn't have screenshots because the hack was the unfortunate scapegoat of a very bloody flame war Sad However, I've played it up to chapter 3 and it's awesome.

Yellow - Shading issues

Black - Height Problems. Make sure that you if you're going to change elevation, the wall height changes to accommodate this.

Red - This is mostly personal opinion, but having an outer wall be only 1 tile thick seems a little weak to me. I'd suggest making it at least two wall tiles thick.

White - This room's function still baffles me. :|


And is it just me or do the chests look faded? Or are those events?

I've been thinking about doing a mapping tutorial, thoughts?

Well Prime, her original map was pretty horrible *stomps all over feelings* so I only edited what I needed to edit. Considering that the original map had a wall of absolutely empty nothingness in the top left, I used what I had to work with. If you want to revampe her map, I offer it to you on a silver platter, but I'm done with it.

I'm not that great of a mapper (Aside from FEPS' original map #2, which was awesome once finished) and I prefer making a fun game over mapping and character design and such. I only learn what I need to learn, and considering the original source material, I did the best I could do.

Also, I hate indoor maps :|

Bro, I'm just pointing out mechanical issues (Which is required fixing IMO) not trying to attack your mapping abilities. Sorry.

I'm not that great of an indoor mapper either =/

Y'all could use a few laughs so I have some. A looonngg time ago I was messing around with a really bad FE8 reskin hack. I made maps for them and they sucked. I'm bored right now so I started improving a couple for the hell of it.

You and I are polar opposites when it comes to mapping I guess. I like roads. Water and rivers just looks funny to me :|

That being said, loving the snow maps. I hope we fix whatever issues Terra mentioned with it because snow levels in FE are sorely lacking.

Several pillars escaped the height error purge. This has been corrected. Also fixed some shading issues that Dancer pointed out :|

Ya, FE does need more snow. The problem is actually incorporating it into the story without it being forced. And I always have to laugh at the fact that the snow tileset tends to mask certain problems. Mainly road issues.

Like the lava maps there, real good job Prime! The only thing that bothers me about the second one is that the building looks a little disorienting or something. Prolly just me. IDK how to explain it.

What? A sprite? Ya, I need feedback on this. It's suppose to be a promoted sword-fighter but I'm not sure if it looks "promoted" enough.

Ok...

Both arms are too small.

The bare arm looks like its part of the armor, and is missing a pixel at the top. (Yellow Circle)

The head is missing a pixel. (Red Circle)

The hand holding the sword is too small. (Green Circle)

I feel like the sword is a pixel or too short, might just be me.

The gauntlet arm (the right one, my right) seems a pixel too far to the right. Either that, or its too small.

The shoulder pads seem a little small.

The white part of the legs aren't shaded enough.

Normally, a promoted class has much more decoration.

The gauntlet arm seems a pixel too long.

The swords shadow is weirdly curved.

And Maybe you could widen his waist by a pixel, too.

Try to fix those, then post it again.
